If you love having people over but secretly hope no one asks for a “real” cocktail, you are in very good company. Maybe mixed drinks are not your thing. Maybe you are just tired of pouring the same glass of wine and wishing you had something a little more special to offer.
Here is the good news. The “perfect cocktail” does not have to involve complicated steps or hard to find ingredients. It can be simple, beautiful, and completely doable in your own kitchen. We found a drink that feels elegant the moment you set it down, yet is refreshingly easy to make. It looks like something you would order at a chic little bar, but you can pull it together in minutes before your guests even ring the bell.
We spoke with Kelly Sparks, the creator behind Queen Bee Mixology, a brand built on helping home hosts feel confident mixing drinks. Kelly shared that she has recently been reaching for a French Blonde, which she describes as “bright, floral, and looks a lot fancier than it is to make.”
That is exactly what you want when you are hosting. Through Queen Bee Mixology, Kelly creates recipes that are completely approachable, and the French Blonde is a perfect example. It gives you that polished, impressive touch without turning you into a full time bartender. You get the compliments. You stay relaxed. And your guests feel just a little bit spoiled.

The Perfect Pour for a Crowd
And just like that, you have an elegant, bright cocktail that feels a little special before anyone even takes a sip.
When we asked Kelly what makes the French Blonde stand out, she smiled and said, “I love this drink because it really does feel like a celebration in a glass.” And she is right. It has that sparkling, lifted quality that makes an ordinary evening feel just a bit elevated.
The best part for you as a host? It batches beautifully. Kelly shares that for gatherings, she will “pre-batch the ingredients in a pitcher for however many servings” she needs, keep it chilled, and then shake each serving with ice right before pouring. That way, you still get the perfect chill and dilution, and your guests feel like each drink was made just for them. While the French Blonde feels luxurious and celebratory, it truly shines because it is so approachable. As Kelly puts it, “It feels a little glamorous but still easygoing, like you’ve made the moment special without making it fussy.”
So the next time you feel that little flicker of pressure before book club, a birthday dinner, or a last minute gathering, let this be your go to. The French Blonde delivers all the polish, none of the stress.
